In 2012, Hurricane Sandy left us without power and without gas and without Halloween. My 2 and 4-year-old were not thrilled that school was closed and that we had to stay home for the forced curfew due to the power outages. So hat did this young family do? We put those costumes on and we walked to Wendy's on Central Park Ave. And guess what? The rest of our neighbors were there with their kids too. It was a place the community landed when we needed shelter and a welcoming place for kids on their favorite holiday of the year.
Seriously, no one planned this. It just happened. I think it is because we know that Dave Thomas stands behind kids. I was happy to find out that this year, Wendy's partnered with the New York Yankees. (THE YANKEES!) Wendy’s is running a donation campaign, “Home Runs for Forever Homes,” to benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Wendy’s will donate $100 for each home run hit by the Yankees in the 2018 season. Let's go JUDGE!!!
